Mary Jane Rhoads, 102, formerly of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 6:02 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at her residence in St. Charles, MO.

Mary Jane was born March 29, 1917 in Pawnee, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Anna (McLean) Kinney.  She married Bernard John Rhoads on November 23, 1939 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 1956.

Mary Jane graduated from Morrisonville High School.  For over 25 years she worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and Post Mistress for the Owaneco post office.  She also worked as a waitress at Fisher’s in Owaneco after she would get off work at the post office.  Mary Jane was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, current member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, MO, American Legion Auxiliary, Kiwanis, National Catholic Society of Forester’s, Altar and Rosary Society, and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, and she was an avid reader.  Mary Jane also enjoyed baking, and was famous for her cinnamon rolls.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Raymond, Richard, and Joseph Rhoads; and siblings, Louis Kinney, Irene Brockamp, Edward Kinney, Dorothy Krager, and Jim Kinney.

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Jack B. (wife, Barbara) Rhoads of Lady Lake, FL; daughters, Barbara (husband, Harley) Cole of St. Charles, MO, and Terry (husband, Larry) Haare of Louisville, KY; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Teresa Rhoads of Litchfield, IL, Ann Kinney of Columbus, OH, and Wanda Kinney of St. Augustine Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Mass: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with The Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. as celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.  

Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th St., Morrisonville, IL 62546. Donations of food may be brought to the Morrisonville Knights of Columbus Hall on Saturday.
