Mary Lou Molohon Wood, 81 of Waggoner passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at 12:35 AM at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born April 11, 1931 in rural Harvel the daughter of Roy and Mary (Lessman) Molohon. She married Jerry E. Wood on October 7, 1950 at 1st United Presbyterian Church in Raymond; he preceded her in death on September 16, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Corrine Specht and brothers, James and Leonard Leroy Molohon.
Mary Lou was a 1949 graduate of Waggoner Community High School. After high school she went to work for Montgomery Service Company in Hillsboro. She spent many years researching her family’s history. She was a member of Community of Faith Church where she served as elder and deaconess, Montgomery County Home Extension for 20 years, Red Hats, Raymond Singles Club and volunteered at the Waggoner Centennial Building.
Survivors: 2 daughters, Cathleen (husband, Dennis) Rockwell and Deborah (husband, Thomas) Mulch both of Harvel, IL; 2 sons, Kevin (wife, Bonnie) Wood of Raymond, IL and Steven Wood of Waggoner, IL; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen McWard of Taylorville, IL and Viola Boston of Granite City, IL; 1 brother, Bruce Molohon of Jacksonville, IL; Many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7 at 10:30 AM at Community of Faith Church in Raymond with Thomas Mulch and Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Raymond. Friends may call on Sunday, May 6 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Community of Faith Church in Raymond.
