Mary McCormick

Mrs. Mary Louise McCormick, 73, of Morrisonville passed away at 5:42 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 in St. John's Hospice, Springfield, IL.

She was born December 5, 1938 in Litchfield, IL, the third child of Alvador A. and Mildred E. McCormick Jones. She married Lawrence Patrick McCormick on July 28, 1962 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morrisonville.

She graduated from St. Maurice Grade School and Morrisonville High School. She also graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. She taught at South Fork Community High School in Kincaid, IL; St. Isodore Grade School in Farmersville and Morrisonville Jr. and Sr. High Schools retiring in 2000. Mary then taught part time at St. Maurice Grade School.

Her memberships include the National Catholic Society of Foresters, St. Maurice Court 743, where she served as president and vice president, and as a delegate to state conventions and a delegate to three national conventions. She was past president of the Civic Janes, and served the Morrisonville Historical Society as treasurer for over twenty years and was a member of the Christian County Retired Teachers. As a member of St. Maurice Parish she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and minister of care, and was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. 

Surviving are her husband Pat McCormick of Morrisonville ,IL, a daughter Maureen E. (William ) Woodrum of Chatham, IL; Son Matthew H and wife Elizabeth Ann McCormick of Springfield, IL. and 2 grandsons Brody James Johnson and Ian Michael McCormick a granddaughter Gracie Alexandra. Also surviving areher brothers Edward F. Jones of Joliet, IL; Gerald G. (Nancy) Jones of San Jose, CA; and Paul D. Jones of Bradenton, FL; a sister Kathleen L. Davis of Bradenton, FL; along with several nieces nephews great nieces great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
