Mary Monte

Mary Monte, 93, of Panama passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 7:00 PM at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

She was Born August 21, 1913 in Corona, Kansas the daughter of John and Maria (Soffietti) Cresto. She married Frank Monte on July 13, 1944 in Coffeen; he preceded her in death in 1968. Also preceding her in death were her parents, son, Frank Monte Jr. in 2003, brothers, Louis and Dominic Cresto.

Mrs. Monte and her husband operated Mont's grocery in Panama for more than 40 years. She also worked at Patton's Nursing Home in Hillsboro for several years. Her memberships include Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Panama, Alter and Rosary Society and Panama VFW Post 6628 Auxiliary.

Survivors: Daughter, Shelia (husband, Dennis) Dal Canton of Hillsboro, IL; 5 Grandchildren, Paula Dal Canton of Litchfield, IL, Jody (husband, Anthony) Buntjer of Loves Park, IL, Shelly (husband, Mark) of Granite City, IL and Matthew (wife, Lisa) Monte of Gilbert, AZ; 6 Great Grandchildren; Daughter In Law, Linda Monte of Williamsville, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 10 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home with the Rev. James Neuman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Panama.

In memory of Mary Monte memorials may be made to Union Cemetery or Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
