Maurice Eugene "Gene" Whicker

Maurice Eugene "Gene" Whicker, age 94, of Greenville, IL, formerly of Mulberry Grove, IL passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 7 PM at Young Funeral Home. Friends may call Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to SAR K9 Co-op or The Greenville First Presbyterian Church.

Gene was born August 31, 1923 in Lerna, IL to Chancie and Iva (Ruttan) Whicker. He never married. He is survived by a nephew Gary (Deb) Whicker of Mulberry Grove. He was preceded in death by a brother Carl Whicker.

He farmed north of Mulberry Grove with his brother. He was a member of the Greenville First Presbyterian Church. He loved reading and was a faithful readker of his bible. He was a member of the Jazz Club for over 50 years. He had a huge collectionsan jazz and Big Band era music. He was also an avid collector of Aladdin Lamps. He loved watching sports on TV and also golfing.
