Maurice Lee "Mose" Belcher

Maurice Lee "Mose" Belcher, 81, of Mulberry Grove, IL. died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. He is survived by his wife Elsie (Sorensen) Belcher, his children Karen Wehrle, Allen Belcher, Keith (Angela) Belcher, Gary Belcher, and Kathy Budnicki, his sisters Mary (Lloyd) West, Charlotte (Leon) Litzenburg, and Sue Ann (Ron) Wilcox, eleven grandchildren and twnety-one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons in infancy Matthew Belcher and Nicholas Budnicki, a granddaughter Stephanie Budnicki, two brothers Willliam Belcher and Wayne Belcher, and three sisters Irene Blunt, Iris DeWald, and Lois Kreiger. He moved to the Keyesport area with his family as a youth. He graduated from Mulberry Grove High School. He worked for Sears in Omaha, Nebraska before entering the U.S. Navy for six years during the Korean Conflict. After the military he returned to work on the family farm near Keyesport. He farmed on his own most of his life and also drove a school bus for The Mulberry Grove School District for 20 years. He was known as an avid "coffee shopper" and historian.

Elsie, Allen, Aunt Mary West and all the other family members – So sorry to hear that Mose has passed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a hard working, honest person and that is a memory you can hold in your hearts.
