Melvin Ray Norris, Jr.

Melvin Ray Norris, Jr., 43, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on October 28, 1969 at Taylorville the son of Melvin Ray Sr. and Barbara Jean (Oller) Norris. Melvin worked as a landscaper installing irrigation systems. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and playing pool.

Survivors include daughter, Candace Norris of Morrisonville, IL; mother, Barbara Hicks of Taylorville, IL; brother, Dennis Ray Brown of Taylorville, IL; sisters, Melinda Mahone of Assumption, IL and Sherie Brown of Gainesville, FL; uncle, Richie Dale Oller of Taylorville, IL; nieces, Samantha Abbott and Jessica Brown; and nephew, Ed Kraut. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Ronnie Norris and step-father, Ray Hicks.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Randy Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from Noon until service time at the funeral home.
