Michael Kent Reidelberger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Kent Reidelberger, affectionately known as Quincy, 74, who passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at home with his loved ones by his side.

Quincy was born on April 26, 1950, in Highland, Illinois to Frank and Ruby Mae (Cruthis) Reidelberger. He was a hometown boy, raised in Bond County with his early years spent attending schools in Sorento and Greenville. He married LoLita Renee McCoy July 13, 2012, at their home in Sorento, Illinois and spent the next 12 wonderful years together. In his youth, Quincy worked as a bartender and laborer, honing his social skills and forming lifelong connections. He later embarked on a remarkable 35-plus-year career as a truck driver, most recently with EF Express, from which he retired. Known as a live version of Google Maps, Quincy’s knowledge of routes and destinations was unmatched. Although he enjoyed bringing his family on well-planned adventures he was known, on more than one occasion, to take off on an impromptu vacation. All he needed for a getaway was an atlas, an open road, and his family for company.

He created a life that was filled with warmth, laughter, and countless unforgettable moments. A true family man at heart, he cared deeply for his mother, was a devoted husband, raised two children, and played an integral role in helping raise two grandchildren. His greatest achievements called him Papa. His family was the cornerstone of his life. He never met a stranger—to know him was to love him. He earned the affectionate nickname SAHATA— “See All, Hear All, Tell All”—for his love of gossip and storytelling. Quincy’s social nature and wit made him the heart of every gathering. Whether hosting a legendary barbecue or inviting friends to his deck, Quincy ensured that drinks were always full, plates were always loaded, and laughter was abundant.

Missouri held a special place in Quincy’s heart, especially on the rock roads and family property where many treasured memories were made. He loved riding four-wheelers, camping, and traveling, often bringing joy and amusement to all who accompanied him. Quincy’s generosity was unparalleled. “He’d give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar if you needed it more,” was a testament to his selfless nature. He will forever be remembered as one of the kindest and most genuine people you could ever meet.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby Mae; sons, Michael Paul Reidelberger and Emil Schneck; siblings, Dorothy Boerckel, Harold Reidelberger and Doris Ingles.

Surviving Quincy are his wife, Renee Reidelberger; children, Meagen (Alex) Aubuschon, Mike (Amy) McCoy, and Elizabeth (Jose) Cabral; grandchildren, Jayden Markus, Logan Aubuschon, Ayden Corpin, Jacob Cabral, Isaac Cabral, Michael Cabral, Brook Schneck, Blain Schneck, Gavin Schneck; and a sister, Mary Ann White.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Mike ‘Quincy’ Reidelberger, to the Shoal Creek FPD – Station 1, 101 N. Main St., Sorento, Illinois 62086

Family and friends are invited to an open house, celebration of life visitation, in remembrance of Quincy’s incredible life from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Shoal Creek FPD – Station 1, 101 N. Main St., Sorento, Illinois 62086.

The family has entrusted Assalley Funeral Home in Greenville with the ceremonies.
