Michael S. Carver, 76, passed away on October 9, 2026, at Carlinville Hospital in Carlinville, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 20, 2026, at Assalley Funeral Home in Panama, Illinois. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Panama.
Mike was born on June 20, 1950, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Romaden and Beulah (nee Lundy) Carver, one of seven children. He moved to Litchfield at a young age, where he resided until moving to Lakeside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carlinville, Illinois.
Always on the go, Mike was a busybody who loved making people laugh. He could routinely be found with a soda and a Slim Jim in his pocket, and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. During his time in Litchfield, he enjoyed visiting the Moose Lodge to share a meal and catch up with friends. Much like the show Cheers, everybody knew Mike’s name. He loved to talk and visit with everyone he met.
Mike also enjoyed attending the Pickers Market on the second Sunday of every month, where he was notorious for trying to strike a bargain. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and often said the best catches were on the Grafton River. Above all, family was his greatest joy, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Romaden and Beulah Carver; his sisters, Janice and Rosie; and his brothers, Bob, Rick, and Billy.
Mike is survived by his sister, Lisa (Tim) Baugh of Staunton, Illinois; his niece, Heather Carver, and nephew, William Hayes, both of Staunton, Illinois; and his great-niece, McKenzee Hayes of Worden, Illinois.

Mike was a very nice person and I knew his family for a long time .
Prayers to his family.
Mike used to frequently stop by the Simple Room when I worked there. He would just stop by and visit. We would spend some time talking, and became friends. He got to know some of the young people there and they were used to him stopping by. He was a kind, gentle soul.
