Milton “Mike” Meadows, 76, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at his home.
Mike was born July 11, 1947, in West Virginia, the son of Milton and Edna (Elliot) Meadows. Upon graduating high school in Matoaka, WV, he moved to Chicago. Mike married Diane Washam on July 4, 1972, in Springfield, and they have enjoyed 51 years of marriage.
Mike worked for Metal Décor in Springfield for 38 years and he and Diane spent over 10 years as the owners and operators of Meadows Country Crafts. He was a supremely talented metal art craftsman and was one of only eight brass etchers in the entire world. Mike had many interests, including coin collecting, woodworking, and his fish pond. He loved yard work and was proud of how he maintained his yard to perfection. Of all his talents and interests, Mike simply loved life and his family, always putting them first. Mike was an incredible husband, and the absolute best daddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Shirley “Tag”, Darlene, Brenda, Chuck, and Glen.
Mike is survived by his wife, Diane Meadows of Auburn; children, Frank, Charles, Dirk, Treva, Melanie, Michael, and Michelle; grandchildren, Breanna, Amanda, Shelby, Blain, Emily (Lux), and Leah; 9 great grandchildren; special daughters, Corinne, Tricia, Heather, Bambi; and brother, Bill.
