Resided in: Morrisonville, Illinois

Nancy Ann Sheedy, 76, of Morrisonville, Illinois, passed away on July 25, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born on January 5, 1948 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Robert H. and Bessie V. (Duncan) Flannigan. She married William D. Sheedy on November 1, 1969, at the Christian Church in Mt. Auburn, Illinois. William and Nancy were blessed with 55 years of marriage–nearly reaching an official 56th anniversary this November.

A truly caring and loving person, Nancy loved her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, Illinois. Nancy loved, and was a great believer, in God. She graduated from Mt. Auburn High School before going on to beauty school. Following her graduation, she sought entrepreneurship, ultimately owning and operating her own beauty shop in Palmer, Illinois. Nancy also worked at the Palmer Bank in Palmer, Illinois, before retiring from The Secretary of State’s Office. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed painting, sewing (having made many blankets for family members), and mathematics–especially solving math equations.

Preceding Nancy in death were her parents; daughter, Crystal Dawn, in infancy; and siblings, Robert Flannigan and Ray Flannigan.

Surviving Nancy are her husband, William D.; children, Dennis (wife, Carla) and William R. (wife, Christa) of Morrisonville, Illinois; sibling, Donald Flannigan of Decatur, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Raegan Sheedy and Quinn Sheedy of Springfield, Illinois, Erin Sheedy (Amber Jarvis) of Litchfield, Illinois, Ian Sheedy, and Liam Sheedy of Morrisonville, Illinois; and 2 great-grandchildren, Fallon Sheedy and Emaria Sheedy, both of Litchfield, Illinois.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Light a CandleNancy was such a beautiful soul. She was kind and strong minded, full of love for her family and her trust in her religion. She was always there for family gatherings and made me feel accepted-even when I wasn’t what she expected. She was a wonderful person, and though her time was very limited with Emaira, she always made it a mission to make Fallon smile these last four years. I’m glad to have known her.

  2. Light a CandleSo sorry to learn of her passing. Nancy was indeed a special person and leaves an army of sad friends at her sudden departure. For Bill and family….the memories you hold of her will assist you through some long days and nights as you grieve. Please continue to hold her up in prayers, as we will all of you. Time will be your friend as special people like Nancy certainly leave lots of memories to relive. Remember those fun times rather than the sudden and painful way she left us. Prayers for all.
