Nelda D. Blankenship, age 54, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 8:15 PM at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10 AM at The Greenville First Christian Church. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday November 16, 2014 from 4-7 PM at The Greenville First Christian Church. Nelda was born on September 20, 1960 in Lawrenceville, IL to Rev. Lawrence E. and Ila (Brackenbush) Becker. She married Dan Blankenship on March 26, 1983 in Greenville, IL. She is survived by her husband Dan Blankenship of Mulberry Grove, IL, her daughter Nicole Elam and her husband Matt of Smithboro, IL., her son Matt Blankenship and his wife Crystal of Greenville, IL., her grandchildren Jase Blankenship and Allison Elam, her father Rev. Lawrence Becker of Vandalia, IL, her brother Eric Parr and his wife Marcia of Coffeen, IL, her sisters Lynette Ward and her husband Jerry of Brownstown, IL, Diane Walker and her husband Paul of South Bend, IN, Cheryl Cain and her husband Denny of Patoka, IL, Karen Breithaupt and her husband Keith of Swansea, IL, Beth Dust and her husband Eugene of Plymouth, MN, and Teresa Burnett and her husband Steve of Weldon Springs, MO. She was preceded in death by her mother Ila Becker and her step-mother Virginia Becker. As a child she lived in several towns as her father was a minister. She lived in E. St. Louis, IL until age 8 and then moved to Shattuc, IL where she lived until she moved to Greenville to attend Greenville College. She and her husband lived for a time in DuQuoin, IL and moved to rural Mulberry Grove in 1985. She worked at Bass-Mollett Publishers for several years and then worked at Hicks Gas in Vandalia since 2008. She also took care of records for Green Hill Cemetery. She was a member of The Greenville First Christian Church Memorial contributions are suggested to Green Hill Cemetery or The Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation.
