Nyle Schmedeke

Nyle Robert Schmedeke, 64, of Morrisonville, died at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at the church with Pastor Scott Busacker officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis. Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville is in charge of arrangements.
Born on Jan. 16, 1947, in Hillsboro, Mr. Schmedeke was the son of Robert and Pearl (Harbert) Schmedeke. He married Cheryl D. DeWerff on Sept. 7, 1968, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis, and she survives in Morrisonville.
A lifelong farmer and veteran of the Air National Guard, he was a past president of the Morrisonville School Board, a former supervisor of King Township, a past office manager at FS, an agent for AAL Insurance, and served on the Morrisonville Elevator Board.
He had formerly served as treasurer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel, and coached several area sports teams. A golf enthusiast, he enjoyed woodworking and was a great leader and teacher to his children.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Pearl Schmedeke of Harvel; two daughters, Cheri (husband Scott) Herpstreith of Nokomis and Becky (husband Patrick) Koerner of Joliet; two sons, Duane (wife April) Schmedeke of Springfield and Brian (wife Kedra) Schmedeke of Morrisonville; one sister, Joyce (husband Mike) Dullenty of Morrisonville; one brother, Ivan (wife Sally) Schmedeke of Harvel; 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Evan, Josi, Ben, Addi, Kyle, Sophie, Braxton, Brady and Beckem; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Albert Davis.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Harvel.
