Patsy Koonce, age 72, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Patsy was born on June 26, 1950, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Edward Rudolph and Irene Ordelle (Hediger) Wegman. She married Richard Lee Koonce Sr., at the First Christian Church, in Greenville, IL, on December 6, 1975. They were married for 47 blessed years.

Patsy graduated from Greenville High School and later worked at Greenville Service and DeMoulin Brothers. Her greatest joy came from her family and friends and was known for her infectious laugh, kind heart, friendly personality, and “Patsy” moments. In her free time, Patsy loved spending quality time with her family, camping with her husband, gardening and always on the lookout for a good bargain. Patsy’s impact on those who knew her will be felt for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister, Nancy Wegman, sister, Kathy Michaelis, brothers, Edward Britt, Kenny Wegman, Jim Wegman, Dan Wegman, and son in law, Vernon Heuer.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Greenville, IL; children, Richard Lee (April) Koonce, Jr., Cindy (Juan ‘Toad’) Vann of Bainbridge, GA, Kelly Runge of Edwardsville, IL, Jaime Heuer of Grenville, IL, and Annette (Ed) Hill of Mulberry Grove, IL; grandchildren, Lyndsie Pennell of Bradford, FL, Megan Koonce of Vandalia, IL, Taylor Koonce of Sneads, FL, Rachel Koonce of Greenville, IL, Hunter Koonce of Smithboro, IL, Robert Williams of Pensacola, FL, Kellee Small of Port Charlotte, FL, Scott Pike of Bainbridge, GA, Kaylee (Trey) Garrison of Trenton, IL, Tyler Postol of St. Louis, MO, Jarett Postol of Edwardsville, IL, Adisyn Postol of Edwardsville, IL, Jessica (Trey)Thompson of Flora, IL, Nathan File of Mulberry Grove, IL; 9 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; and 2 siblings, Bruce (Becky) Wegman of Trenton, IL and Linda Schleper of Pocahontas, IL.

Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.

Memorial Service: 7:00 pm, following the visitation.

The family asks that memorials be given in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, as the following organizations were very special to Patsy.
