Philip E. Burdick, age 86, of Greenville passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home. Graveside services will be held at Campground Cemetery on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11 AM. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Salvation Army.
Philip was born November 12, 1929 in Sandwich, IL to Kenneth P. and Ida I. (Dobbs) Burdick. He married Shirley Leifheit and they later divorced. He then married Delores Royer Traub on July 15, 1978 in Carbondale, IL. He is survived by his wife Delores of Greenville, his sons Michael Burdick of Hawaii and Gregg Burdick of Somonauk, IL, his daughter Terri Baumez and her husband Alan "Skip" of Big Rock, IL. He is also survived by his step-sons Melvin Traub and his wife Marilyn of Hartford, IL and Larry Traub of Old Ripley, IL along with 3 grandchildren four step-grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 2 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth D. Burdick.
He grew up in the Sandwich, IL area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After the military he worked for Caterpillar in Aurora, IL and retired after 30 years. He moved to Greenville in January of 1990 and was a member of The Greenville Free Methodist Church.
