Ray graduated from Greenville High School in 1939 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in August of 1942. He was honorably discharged on November 27, 1945 having received the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Rasler and his wife Susan Hughey-Rasler of Greenville; daughter, Cathy A. McCormick of Richmond, Virginia; and a brother, Richard R.
