Richard B. Daykin

TAYLORVILLE - Richard Bert Daykin, 85, of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 6:33 PM at Taylorville Care Center.

He was born September 29, 1926 at Taylorville the son of John Bert and Thelma Maxine (Lawler) Daykin. He married Joan Elizabeth Vaughan on June 29, 1947 at Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Daykin.

Before his retirement, Richard was employed as a cost estimator for Zenith Radio. he attended DePaul and Washington Universities. He lived in the Chicago area for 30 years before moving back to Taylorville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Denver during World War II.

Survivors: Wife, Joan Daykin of Taylorville, IL; Sons, Michael (wife, Arlene) Daykin of Brandon, FL, Richard (wife, Regina) Daykin of Hoffman Estates, IL, Andy (wife, Lisa) Daykin and Chris (wife, Terra) Daykin both of Taylorville, IL and Phillip Daykin (companion, Karen Hart) of Port Charlotte, FL; Daughter, Joni Rosenthal (companion, Mark Zuber) of Taylorville, IL; 13 grandchildren; 1 nephew.

Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
