Robert Allen Cain

Robert Allen Cain, 81 of Sorento formerly of Mulberry Grove passed away Friday, May 9, 2008 at 9: 15 PM at Fair Oaks in Greenville. 

He was born July 31, 1926 in St. Louis, MO the son of Mannis and Lettie (Tipsword) Cain. He married Barbara Anne Young on July 14, 1949 at Blytheville, Arkansas. Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 brothers, Lewis and Neal Cain, 3 Sisters, Georgia Potter, Ruby Palmer and Patsy Lampston. 

Before his retirement Robert was a laborer at Granite City Steel Mill for 34 years. He played with the band Strings and Things for several years. 

Survivors: Wife, Barbara A. Cain of Sorento, IL; Son, Gene Cain of Ohio; Daughters, Nadine Downs of Granite City, IL, Mary Ellen Wood of Batesville, AR and Fran Rickman of Vandalia, IL; 7 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Paul Cain of Tucson, AZ; Several Nieces and Nephews. 

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 13 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Young Funeral Home in Mulberry Grove. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 :00 AM at the Young Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Mulberry Grove Cemetery. 

In memory of Robert memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
