Robert Andrew Veres, 70, of Panama, IL, passed away at 7:39 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Robert was born September 1, 1948 in Hillsboro, IL, the son of Andy and Norma (Palleva) Veres.  He married Lois K. Lohman on May 13, 1972 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Panama, IL.

Robert graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1966.  He worked for the Coffeen Power Plant as a maintenance welder for 37 years.  Robert was a union man, and was a current member of the Locals #148, and Locals #1084 in Hillsboro.  He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and any type of hunting, especially duck hunting.  Robert was a past co-chairman of the Shoal Creek Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lois K. (Lohman) Veres of Panama, IL; daughter, Lesley Angela Veres of Coffeen, IL; grandson, Carroll Robert Smith of Coffeen, IL; goddaughter, Jonni Warren of Donnellson, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 117 Walnut St., Panama, IL 62077, with Rev. Alan M. Hunter officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Panama, IL.
