Robert Louis Caulk, Sr., 82, of Litchfield, formerly of Sorento, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:34 p.m. at Heritage Manor in Litchfield.

Memorial services were held Sunday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento.

He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Sorento, the son of the late Elbert and Effie (Glenn) Caulk. He married Wilma Arlene Plappert on Dec. 2, 1950 at Hillsboro and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Dotti (husband Jerry) Taylor of Morrisonville, and Deb (husband David) Massena of Sorento; two sons, Robert L. (wife Katie) Caulk Jr. of Livermore, CA, and David (wife Carol) Caulk of Greenville; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Young of Sorento; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were five sisters, one brother and two brothers in infancy.

Mr. Caulk worked as a sheet metal press operator for Fiat-Alis, retiring after 30 years of service. He assisted his father with the family saw mill and house moving business. He was a former mayor of Sorento, served as a trustee for many years and was active with the Sorento Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Kessinger American Legion Post 713, former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 99 and served with the Army during the Korean War.

Memorials may be made to the Sorento Methodist Church.
