Robert Collmann, 97 of Sorento passed away quietly at 11:02 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

He was born on June 5, 1919 in Old Ripley Township the son of John and Lena (Theims) Collmann. Robert married Ruth Voyles on April 30, 1939; she preceded him in death on April 5, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Brother, Ted Collmann; Sisters, Ethel Worker and Mildred (Mitchell) Olm.

Robert spent his entire lifetime farming and raising livestock. He was a 4-H leader in Bond County, and served on the Bond County Soil and Water Conservation board for 25 years. He was also co-founder of the Shoal Creek Coon Hunter's Association and a member of the Mt. Olive ATA and Shoal Creek Fox Hunter's Association. He was a Mason and active in the Eastern Star with Masonic Lodge 861 in Sorento.

Robert enjoyed life to its fullest. He claimed he never worked a day in his life, he just loved what he did. That was the key factor to his 97 years, figure out what you want to do and its never work. He loved dancing, he and Ruth danced a many of miles throughout their 61 years of marriage. He loved camping and sitting around the campfire telling stories, hunting, going to horse sales and attending the Rodeo in Fort Madison, Iowa.

He is survived by: Son, Lamoine Collmann of Sorento, IL; Daughters, Jeanette (Bill) Manning of Panama, IL and Carol Sue (Dwight) Rovey of Farmersville, IL; 5 Grandchildren, Donna Jean Wilson, Bobby (Tami) Manning, Stephanie (Kevin) Wernle, Travis Rovey and Devin (Josh) Powell; 5 Great grandchildren and 4 Great great grandchildren; Special friend, Lucille Overbeay.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento with Rev. Terry Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento.
