Robert E. Neumann

Robert Neumann was born and raised in Greenville, IL. He attended Greenville schools and graduated in 1939. While in high school he enjoyed and played basketball. After graduation he continued to play for an independent team which was named the Shells. Shortly after high school Robert enlisted in the Army where he served over seas in North Africa and Italy. Upon returning home he began working with his father and uncle as a grocer. He soon bought the business and reopened it under the name The Red & White Store here in Greenville. He married Patricia Wiseman in 1946. Robert retired from the Grocery Store business in the early 70's and began working in landscaping and fruit orchards around town. Later on he served on The First National Bank of Sandoval Board of Directors. He did this for 32 years. He also served for 23 years on the board for The Bond County Housing Authority. Robert is survived by his wife Patti, his daughter Janet (Boyd A.) McCracken, and his son R. Randall Neumann. Memorials are suggested to The Greenville First Presbyterian Church or Greenville Regional Hospital.
