Robert E. Towell, 62, of Sorento, IL passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004 at 3:47 PM at his home. 

He was born November 16, 1941 in Bond County, IL the son of Robert R. and Bernice L. (Tipsword) Towell. Preceding him in death was his father in 1970. 

Mr. Towell worked at Monterey Mine #1 in Carlinville, retiring after 32 years. He was a member of the Sorento Presbyterian Church, Kessinger American Legion Post #713 and Masonic Lodge #861 both of Sorento, Bond County Shrine Club and VFW Post #6628 of Panama. He was a veteran of the US Army. 

Survivors: Mother, Bernice L. Towell of Sorento, IL; Sisters, Evelyn (Russel) Pope of Sorento, IL and Barbara (Leonard) Hall of Greenville, IL; Nieces, Julie Ann (Dean) Carrillon of Carlyle, IL and Elizabeth (Travis) Rieder of Shelbyville, IL; Nephew, Matthew (Janel) Hall of Pocahontas, IL; 2 Great Nieces and 1 Great Nephew; Uncle, Tommy Tipsword of Sorento, IL; Aunts, Shirley Tipsword of Sorento, IL and Helen Kershaw of Hillsboro, IL; Several Cousins. 

Friends may call Tuesday, July 27, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Masonic rites will be held Tuesday at 7:45 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Sorento Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Elmer Fenton officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Bond County Memorial VFW Post # 1377 will conduct military honors at the grave. 

Memorials may be made to Masonic Lodge #861, Kessinger American Legion Post #713, Sunnyside Cemetery or Sorento Presbyterian Church.
