Robert Dean Taylor, 60, of Morrisonville, Illinois, passed away on August 27, 2024, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois.
Robert was born February 19, 1964, in Taylorville, IL, the son of Tony and
Deanna (Durbin) Taylor. He married Sally Nance on November 26, 1988, but later divorced. He then married Susan Thompson on January 1, 2010, divorcing later. He maintained a friendly relationship with them both, until his death.
Morrisonville was home to Robert, as he spent his lifetime there. He was a loving, caring man who worked hard and was very outgoing. He was the best grandpa, father, husband, and a joy to be around as he sure knew how to bring out the laughs. While attending Morrisonville school he was active member in both band and FFA. His interest in FFA led him into studying horticulture in college. Robert was true in his faith and a member of the Morrisonville First Baptist Church.
He spent many years as a truck driver hauling grain for local farmers. He possessed a green thumb especially when it came to gardening and propagating plants. You could hand him a plant cutting and he would return weeks later with a beautiful plant. He was an avid collector of die cast automobiles. He always enjoyed music of all kinds and genres. He enjoyed hanging with his kids and grandkids, playing the guitar and singing with his son-in-law, Kevin. Robert was the kind of man that could fix anything.
Preceding Robert in death were his brother, Richard Taylor, his grandparents, Doris & Marvin Durbin and Edith & Jim Taylor, in-laws, William & Geraldine Thompson and Delmar Nance.
Those surviving Robert are his children, John (Tara Brackett) Taylor of Springfield, IL, Bobbie (Kevin) Lipe of Palmer, IL, Maria (Paul) Parkin of Morrisonville, IL, Holly (Danny) Allen of Wood River, IL; grandchildren, Alexander Taylor, Mary Kate Howe, Abigail Lipe, Maeve Parkin, Aubrie Lipe, Declan Taylor, Emberly Parkin; siblings, Marlene (Ricky) Skinner of Palmer, IL, Russell (Katie) Taylor of Morrisonville, IL, Rodney (Sue) Taylor of Palmer, IL.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I hope you know how much I miss you.
Life has been so different without you here, but I know you’re in a beautiful place, surrounded by so much peace and love. I think about you all the time and smile at the thought of you, but my heart still aches for you and all that you have missed…You were the absolute BEST Dad I could have ever asked for & I was so lucky to have you. I will forever wish we had more time. Your unconditional love, your strength and your memory are the things I will carry with me always. Thank you for the life you gave me, and for all the lessons you taught me and continuing to be my guiding light. I Love you, Dad so much!
Love your little girl 🤍😭💔
