Ronald E. Whitlow, 80, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 9:37 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Ronald was born May 18, 1939 in Tovey, IL, the son of Cecil and Sue (Connerly) Whitlow.  He married Marie Clements on December 31, 1965 at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, IL.

Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Upon returning from his service to our nation, he was a coal miner for Peabody #10 for 24 years, and went on to own and operate Whitlow Septic Service from 1991 until his retirement.  Ronald was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.  He enjoyed camping, a “nice fire”, throwing horseshoes, shooting pool, and boating.  Most of all, Ronald enjoyed his time spent with family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie G. Whitlow; and brothers, Gary and Phil Whitlow.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Marie Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Rhonda M. Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; son, Robert L. (wife, Amy D.) Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Faye (husband, Chuck) Clark of Oak Lawn, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating.

Cremation will be provided after ceremonies.
