Rose Elizabeth "Betty" Neumann

Mrs. Neumann was born November 29, 1928 at home near Pocahontas to Earl and Elsie (Stallard) Hunter. She married Carl C. Neumann on November 5, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1969. Rose "Betty" began working during High School as a waitress at Breities Caf�©. Following graduation from Greenville High School in 1946 she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator until the birth of her first child and then became a farm wife for 20 years. At age 46 she graduated from Kaskaskia College School of Nursing with a RN degree. She then worked as a Night Supervisor and Emergency Room Nurse first at St. Josephs Hospital in Breese and later at Hillsboro Area Hospital. From 1986 until her retirement in 1999 she worked for the Illinois Department of Public Health as a Health Facilities Surveillance Nurse. Mrs. Neumann was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Home Extension for over 20 years, 4-H club leader for 6 years, a member of the Illinois 4-H Foundation 8 years and worked on fund raisers to build Utlaut Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her two children Carol (Dennis) Lingley of Greenville and Edward (Iryna) Neumann of Spring, Texas, grandchildren Brian Lingley, Julie Elders, Heather Shelton and step grandchild Polinka and great-grandchildren Brady, Layne and Cody Lingley and Morgan and Grant Wilderman. Proceeding in death was her husband, parents and brothers, Richard, Marion, Obed, Roger, Homer and Elmer. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Children's Choir, Bond County Hospice and Helia Healthcare Activities Fund.
