Rose M. (Clevenger) Durbin, 83, of Dixon, IL, passed away at 1:46 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
Rose was born on February 1, 1941, in Girard, IL to George R. (Sr.) and Mary E. (Gray) Clevenger. She was the first of eight children. On February 9, 1958, she married Dale J. Durbin of Taylorville, IL. They lived in Morrisonville and Palmer for most of their 61 years of marriage before he passed away in 2019. Together they had two children, Terry Durbin and Pam (Durbin) Harrison. They had five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was friendly, diligent, organized. She liked to be busy and her hands were always working. She was of Christian faith, and always read her Bible. She had a great mind for details and readily remembered loved one’s birthdays.
Rose had many hobbies, including being an avid reader of books, crocheting, and needlework. She made stocking caps for cancer patients. Later in life, she became a quilter. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years and enjoyed spending time with family. She worked at a local bank, several retail places and finally retired from Walmart after 10 years. After retirement, she enjoyed visiting the Senior Center with her sisters and morning chats with her friends at Rolling Meadows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, parents, and three brothers.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Sue) Durbin of Westville, IL and Pam (Tom) Harrison of Dixon, IL; grandchildren, Amanda (Tom) Spinka of Livermore, CA; Susan (Jeremy) Lipa of Covington, IN; Laura (Thaddeus) of Cincinnati, OH; Kate (Dan) Burgoni of Deforest, WI; and Rodger Durbin of Georgetown, IL; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Gates and Betty Durbin; brothers, Ed (Cheryl) Clevenger and George (Cindy) Clevenger; and many special nephews and nieces and cousins. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside ceremony for Rose will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Morrisonville Cemetery, 300 East Road, Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.

Rose will be deeply missed as she was a great loving woman and a second mom to me. Going on Sunday rides with the Durbin family and spending time at their house has so many great memories. The love she showed me can never be replaced or forgotten. Love her and will miss her.
