Ruby M. Hughes

Ruby M. Hughes, 98, of Walshville passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

She was born November 28, 1908 in Montgomery County, IL the daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Ada (Vogel) Hemken. Ruby married Ellsworth E. Hughes on December 2, 1925 in Walshville; he preceded her in death on January 31, 1982. Also preceding her in death was a son, Henry A. Hughes; brothers, Russell Hemken and infant Mariam Hemken.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Walshville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband on the family farm.

Survivors: Son, James (wife, Doris A.) Hughes of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Emma (husband, Gerald W.) Farnsworth of Barrington, IL; many grandchildren; brothers, Burl Hemken of Hillsboro, IL and Otto Hemken of Walshville, IL; sister, Emma Ledbetter of Greenville, IL; sister in law, Vivian Hemken of Walshville, IL; Many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 20 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at 11:00 AM at the Walshville Baptist Church with the Rev. Oley Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.

In memory of Ruby M. Hughes memorials may be made to the Walshville Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
