Ruby M. Rice

Ruby Maxine Rice, 85 of Stonington passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10:55 AM at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on September 14, 1928 at Decatur the daughter of Ruby E. and Verene J. (Rhodes) Walton. She married George Dwayne Rice on September 8, 1951 at Moweaqua. She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Gladys Walton; Brothers, Wayne and Raymond Walton.

Ruby was head checker at Kroger, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include: Her husband, George D. Rice of Stonington, IL; Daughter, Terrie L. (husband, Kyle B.) Parks of Stonington, IL; 3 Granddaughters, Robyn M. (Nathan) Frederking of O'Fallon, IL, Jennifer K. (Zack) Mills of Park Hills, MO and Mary K. Parks (companion, Nick Mayberry) of Jacksonville, IL; 7 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Malia, Zimri, Abel, Kynleigh, Madelyn and Hayden.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Ruby's life will be held at a later date.

Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
