Ruth L. Dey

Ruth Lavonne Dey, 96 of Morrisonville passed away at 1:25 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born on August 15, 1920 at Taylorville the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (Shoup) Oller. She married John R. Dey on May 28, 1949 at First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville; he preceded her in death. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Cottom and brother, Fred Oller.

Ruth was employed for many years as secretary for the Morrisonville High School and had also worked for the Illinois Secretary of State, Kitchell Memorial Library and the Breeze-Courier. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid, Kiwanis, Eastern Star, Civic Janes and Red Hat Society.

Survivors include: Daughter, Nancy J. (husband, Hunter) Ryan of Cotter, AR; Son, Jack (wife, Cindy) Dey of Taylorville, IL; 4 grandchildren, Brad (Cyndi) Kramer, Cara (Bryan) Thomas, Lori (Dustin) Purkey and Rachelle (C.J.) Stickel; 11 Great Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM until time of service at the First Presbyterian Church.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, Kitchell Memorial Library or Morrisonville Community Ambulance.
