Sharon J. Matthews

Sharon J. "Bird Woman" Matthews, 69 of Langleyville passed away at 6:29 PM on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 17, 1945 at Taylorville the daughter of Roy and Eleanor (Christian) Collins. She married Albert L. Matthews on November 23, 1961 at Assembly of God Church in Kincaid. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Lee Collins.

Sharon was a lifetime member of Illini Bird Fanciers. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, rummage sales, fishing, photography, ghost hunting and being outdoors.

Survivors include: Husband, Albert L. "Al" Matthews of Langleyville, IL; Daughter, Julie (husband, Bart) Emerson of Langleyville, IL; Grandson, Gabriel Slade Emerson; Sister, Shirley Fleming of Kincaid, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral in Taylorville. Burial will follow at Anderson Cemetery, Palmer. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
