Terry Ira Land

November 2, 1941 ~ December 11, 2020
Terry Ira Land, 79, of Farmersville, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 with family members by his side, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Terry was born on November 2, 1941 in Peoria, to Ira and Gladys (Smith) Land (later Pearson) and step-son to Ivan Pearson. A 1960 graduate of Morrisonville High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice Marie Fesser on June 23, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Harvel.
Terry proudly served our nation immediately after high school by enlisting in the United States Air Force, and later served full-time in the Missouri Air National Guard, mainly working on jet aircraft until his retirement in 1985. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed camping, bass fishing, farming and rebuilding Tri-Five Chevys. Most of all, Terry’s passion was being with family no matter when and where they could meet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Wilson; and brother-in-law, Glenn C. Fesser.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Terry is survived by his son Mike (wife, Sheri) Land of Sachse, TX; his daughter Christy (husband, Dale) Witte of Wentzville, MO; incredibly special to him are his grandsons, Ian and Jake Land, as well as his granddaughter, Lily Witte; brothers-in-law, Larry (wife, Joyce) Fesser of Farmersville, and Dale (wife, Veronica) Fesser of Rochester; sister-in-law, Mary J. Alice, sorry to hear of Terry’s death. Our prayers are for peace and comfort for you and your family.
Linda and I surely enjoyed the times we were able to visit and share together.
On behalf of our family, thank you everyone for your incredible amount of thoughts and prayers as we collectively deal with the loss of Dad. As sad as we are to lose him, we are confident he is in a better place.
As all of you know Dad was very passionate about a few things, specifically – his family, Tri-Five Chevys and being able to work on his favorite aircraft (F-100s) while serving in the Air Force and the Missouri Air National Guard. For that reason, I thought I’d include a few pictures to remind everyone of those. For reference, the older picture of Mom and Dad with that 55 Chevy was taken when they were dating prior to Dad shipping out for Basic Training. The newer picture of them was taken the week we celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. One incredible aspect of those two particular photos was they were taken on almost the same exact spot on the Fesser Family farm.
Blessings to all
My sympathies and prayers go out to the Land Family. I worked with Terry at the Guard Base and at the Goodfellow Army Command. He was a super guy and a good friend. He will be missed.
Dear Alice,
Our hearts just sank when Megan shared the news with us. May God bring peace and comfort to your broken heart. We can only imagine the homecoming Terry got as he stepped into Heaven. Christmas with Jesus. We will remember him as a pillar of Trinity.
I just heard of Terry’s passing today and I am deeply sorry for your loss. For many years Terry and I worked together in the Missouri Air National Guard and I considered him a friend. I’m sure that by now he is in a John boat fishing. Lonnie Spight
