Terry McFain, 75, of Pocahontas, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, at his residence. The family has chosen cremation in accordance with his wishes.

Terry was born May 26, 1951, in Carrollton, Illinois to Russell and Vera (nee Camerer) McFain. He grew up in Jerseyville and attended the local school. Following his graduation in 1969, he proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting in 1972. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany and worked as a truck driver. After returning home in 1977, he met the love of his life, Linda Beach. They were wedded March 31, 1990, in Mascoutah, Illinois. Together they made their home in Mascoutah and Trenton before settling in Pocahontas, where they built a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting friendships.

Terry had a lifelong love of driving trucks. Following his retirement from the United States Post Office, he accepted a position with Truck Centers in Troy, Illinois. By far, it was his favorite job. He greatly admired his boss and cherished the many friendships he formed there. Some of his fondest memories were the trips he and his coworkers took together across the country.

A true enthusiast of hot rods, Terry enjoyed building, restoring, and driving them whenever he had the opportunity. He loved taking leisurely drives through the countryside and was known as someone who could fix just about anything. Whether working on a vehicle, tackling a project around the house, or helping a friend in need, he was always willing to lend a hand.

Terry also enjoyed listening to classical gospel music. Above all else, he treasured time with his family. He loved his boys deeply and was always eager to plan a trip to visit them. He thought highly of his daughters-in-law and welcomed them as his own. Nothing made him prouder than his family and the lives they built together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Vera.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda; his sons, Adam (Sandra Mantilla) McFain of Washington, and James (Leidy Trout) McFain of Mississippi; siblings, Richard (Eva) McFain of Carrollton, Marilyn (Lyndon) Sickmeyer of Jerseyville, Carolyn (Larry) Gowin of Jerseyville, Barbara (Francis) Davis of Thompsonville; niece, Shannon Phelps Walls of Wood River; and many extended family and friends.

Memorials in his honor may be made to: Bond County Hospice, 1520 South 4th Street, Greenville, Illinois 62246.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Terry was my best friend and previously my brother in law. I will never forget the good times we had and will always cherish the memories of our friendship . You won’t be forgotten.

  2. Light a CandleDidn’t get to see Terry so much as I got older and folks sort of drifted, but I’ll always remember him. Saved me on a couple occasions when my cars needed work, and he never asked for anything in return. He was a good man who cared about his family.
