Tom Prehn, Sr.

Tom Prehn, Sr., 65, of Taylorville, IL passed away at 9:23 a.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Tom was born October 30, 1952 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Harold G. and M. Corrine Smith Prehn.
Tom graduated from Taylorville High School in 1970. As a summer job, he helped plant the trees that would become Sangchris Lake State Recreation Area. Tom would later work and retire from Borg Warner. He was then head of maintenance for Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 20 years, before his retirement there. Tom enjoyed long car rides and anything involving being outdoors, especially fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his children, Tricia Prehn of Morrisonville, IL, Thomas Prehn, Jr. of Herrick, IL, Eric (wife, Katie) Prehn of Taylorville, IL, and Tim (wife, Amanda) Prehn of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Jourdan Prehn of Kansas City, MO, Rachel Prehn of Taylorville, IL, Emma Prehn of Morrisonville, IL, Shianne and Caleb Prehn of Farmersville, IL, and Kenton, Peighton, and Ryker Prehn of Taylorville, IL; great grandchildren, Kynleigh, Brantley, Pasleigh, and one on the way; siblings, Linda Angell of Normal, IL, Carolyn Johnson of Decatur, IL, and Henry (wife, Pam) Prehn of Taylorville, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be accorded and private family ceremonies will be held at a later date.

I’m so sorry for your loss, I remember Tom best as a tree planter, my dad was the ranger at Sangchris and after a hard morning planting trees they would come back to the house and get a nice cool drink. Again I’m so sorry for your loss, sending prayers!
Even tho we weren’t as close as I wanted to be. You will be missed by so many . I love you and please watch over my family as we all have a hard time taking in everything . 💙
