Velma Elsie Carter, 100, of Morrisonville died at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Taylorville Care Center.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday at Moffitt-Perfetti Funeral Home, Morrisonville, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 10, 1906, in rural Morrisonville, daughter of Thomas and Cora (Jordan) Eckhoff. She married Raymond "Dick" Carter on Jan. 8, 1930, in Carlinville, and he is deceased.

Mrs. Carter, a homemaker and caregiver, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel, and attended First Presbyterian Church, Morrisonville.

Surviving are a son, Arthur Lee (wife Susan) Carter of Morrisonville; three grandchildren, Sam (wife Tammy) Carter and Cynthia (husband Michael) Millburg, both of Morrisonville, and Lori (husband Christopher) Durbin of Stonington.

She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Thomas and Todd Carter, Jonathon, Lance, Cameron and Abigale Millburg, and Emily Durbin; nieces, Linda Poggenpohl and Ruth Hopper.

A son, Louie Carter, and two brothers, Bill and Glenn Eckhoff, are deceased.

Memorials are directed to Morrisonville Community Ambulance or First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville.
