Vera Balla
Vera Balla, nee Calufetti, 94, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Panama, Ill., born Aug. 25, 1914, in Panama, Ill., passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Vera worked for the Federal Reserve in St. Louis, Mo., for many years and at Lock Vent Industries in Belleville. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Balla whom she married on Nov. 27, 1935; her parents, Tony and Caterina, nee DeGani, Calufetti; her brother, Guido Calufetti; sisters, Lena Hammerback, Lebra Hartman, Ida Hammack and Francis Calufetti; and a nephew, Gene Calufetti.
Surviving are her nephews, David Calufetti, Tony Calufetti, Mike DiDonato, Chuck DiDonato, Joe DiDonato and Jon Hammack; and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63131-3597.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Perfetti Funeral Home, Panama, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dave Trover officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Panama, Ill.
