Vernon W. Lauer, 85, of Morrisonville passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 7:30 AM at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

He was born August 8, 1921 in Morrisonville the son of William C. and Jane (Carey) Lauer. He married Juanita (Ragel) Lindsey on November 16, 1946 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville; she preceded him in death in 1989. Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Mr. Lauer was owner of Times Printing in Morrisonville; he also co-owned with his wife Juanita and was publisher of The Morrisonville Times newspaper prior to his retirement. His memberships include St. Maurice Catholic Church, charter member of the Kiwanis Club, Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 and Knights of Columbus Council l 151. He was mayor of Morrisonville from 1965-1972 and served as a village board trustee for several years. He was past president and secretary of the Christian County Planning Commission and proposed and founded the Morrisonville Little League Baseball. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Rhineland and Central Europe during World War II.

Survivors: Step Son, Thomas Kirby (wife, Pamela) Lindsey of Palm Desert, CA; 2 Grandsons, Matthew and Brian William Lindsey of Seal Beach, CA; 2 Great Granddaughters, Makenna and Alexandrea Lindsey.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 5 from 10:00-10:30 AM at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 5 at 10:30 AM at St. Maurice Catholic Church with Rev. Chris J. Comerford officiating. Burial will follow in St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 honor guard.
