Viola Mae Harris

Viola “Vi” Mae Harris, 75, of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 8:54 p.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on December 20, 1937 at Macon, Mississippi, the daughter of Theola and Ora Lee (Ike) Brackett. She married James O. Harris; he preceded her in death in 1998.

Viola was an LPN working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur for several years. She was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Theola Jr. (wife, Patricia) Brackett of Springfield, IL and L.C. Brackett of New Jersey; four sisters, Julia Lee Craig of Springfield, IL, Susie Beeman of California, Mary (husband, James) Ellington of Springfield, IL and Roberta (husband, David) Stapleton of Springfield, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Eddie Brackett and sisters, Martha Jean Bates and Carolyn Hale.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tiny Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be on Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
