Virginia Margaret Davis

TAYLORVILLE, IL - Virginia Margaret Davis, 107, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 11:45 a.m. at Hickory Estates surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born March 19, 1906, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Emma (Sawyer) Hays. She married Donald F. Davis on Oct. 14, 1928, in Decatur; he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, John F. Davis; brother, Wayne Hays; and sister, Martha Hays.

Virginia was a Gold Star Mother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her sons, Richard (wife, Shirley) Davis and Bill (wife, Joanne) Davis both of Taylorville; six grandchildren: John (Kim) Davis of Mesa, Ariz., Lori Davis of Houston, Texas, Lisa (Todd) Wise of Springfield, Ill., Janet (Dan) Larimore of Plainville, Mass., William (Dee) Davis of Elmhurst, Ill., and Dawn (Lance) Archer of Carmel, Ind.; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
