W. Myrle Cruthis

SORENTO - W. Myrle Cruthis, 75, of Sorento, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born, July 13, 1932, in Panama, the daughter of Phillip Daniel and Wanda T. (Miller) Stephan. She married Clarence L. Cruthis on April 9, 1949, in East St. Louis, Ill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1993. Her parents and a brother, Phillip Stephan, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cruthis and her husband operated Cruthis Market in Sorento for 46 years. She was a member of the Kessinger American Legion Post 713 Auxiliary, Panama Senior Citizens and Sorento Assembly of God Church.

Survivors: a son, Dennis Cruthis of Sorento; two daughters, Laura (Michael) Province of Panama and Mary (Tom) Baird of Catlin; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman (Jean) Stephan of Jacksonville and Donald Stephan of Taylorville; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at Perfetti Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Trover officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
