Walter Albert Davis. 89, of Palmer, died at 10:30 p.m., Saturday. Sept. 11, 1999 at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Davis was born February 15, 1910 in Morrisonville, the son of Thomas and Edith “Schwabe” Davis. He first married Ruth I. Johnson in St. Charles, MO on December 13, 1938 and she preceded him in death August 14, 1986. He married Pearl Schmedeke December 1, 1987 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Nokomis. He was a lifelong resident of the Morrisonville and Palmer area. Mr. Davis was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel and assistant scoutmaster of Woodstock Il, Troop and he also was an Eagle Scout.
Surviving are his wife. Pearl of Palmer; two stepsons, Nyle Schmedeke of Morrisonville and Ivan Schmedeke of Harvel: two daughters. Rita Specht of Woodstock and Mrs. Don (Anita) Seitz of Chesterfield, MO: one stepdaughter. Joyce Dullenty of Morrisonville: five grandsons; three great-grandsons: 13 step grandchildren: four step-great-grandchildren: one sister, Marcella Hancock of Nokomis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife; Ruth: brothers, Art and F1oyd Davis, Bob Schwabe, sister. Radia King and son-in-law. Chris Specht.
Services will be held at 10 am. Wednesday. Sept. 15, 1999 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. Rev. Clifford Adair will officiate and burial will be in Harpers Ferry Cemetery, Palmer. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 in the Moffitt Funeral Home, Morrisonville .
