Wayne William. Long, 73, of Sorento passed away Monday, November 27, 2006 at 12:35 AM at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
He was born April 25, 1933 in Walshville, IL the son of John William and Lola (Vollintine) Long. He married Mary Lou Loew on January 22, 1955 in the Staunton Presbyterian Church. Preceding him in death were his parents and 1 sister, Verna Jean Tinnin.
Mr. Long worked at Olin Corporation for 5 years and for McDonald Douglas in St. Louis as a chemical edger for 36 ½ years before his retirement.
Survivors: Wife, Mary Lou Long of Sorento, IL; Daughters, Pamela Ellington of Sorento, IL and Clara (husband, Mike) Jatcko of Litchfield, IL; Sons, Gary (wife, Christina) Long of Litchfield, IL, Larry (wife, Rosella) Long of Taylor Springs, IL, Ronnie (wife, Missy) Long of Litchfield, IL and Russell Long of Sorento, IL; 20 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Art Long of Collinsville, IL and Harold (wife, Katherine) Long of Hillsboro, IL; Sister, Doris (husband, Ray) Contratto of Bethalto, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 28 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Horne in Sorento. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 29 at 11 :00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Horne with Rev. James Howie officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento.
