William “Bill” Daugherty, 67, of Morrisonville, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at his residence.
Bill was born July 13, 1955, in Taylorville, the son of Phillip and Dorothy (Scott) Daugherty. He married Joni Hunt on November 8, 1980, in Taylorville, and she survives him. Bill is also survived by his and Joni’s sons, Daniel (Charity) Daugherty of Morrisonville, and Joseph (Amanda) Daugherty of Edinburg; and five grandchildren, John, Chelsea, Jason, Maggie, and Hazel.
Bill worked for Peabody Coal Mine #10 for 21 years and worked periodically as a farmhand for many years. He enjoyed spending his time on his farm, bank pole fishing, and he loved mowing. Bill took his greatest joy from spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Robert and Peggy (Dowdy) Hunt; and a granddaughter.
Bill will be cremated and a private celebration of life in his honor will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bill’s family, so they can plant a memorial tree in his honor.
