William “Bill” Manning, 67, of Sorento, IL, passed away at 4:53 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his residence in Panama, IL.

Bill was born April 1, 1952 in Hillsboro, IL, the son of Garlon “Red” and Virginia (Topornick) Manning, Jr.  He married Jeanette Collmann on March 6, 1971 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Panama, IL.

Bill graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1970, and went on to work for Rovey Farm and Sales in Farmersville, IL, as well as farming the family farms.  He was currently employed by the Shoal Creek Township Road Commission.  Bill enjoyed going to the rodeo in Ft. Madison, IA and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a past member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Panama, Mt. Olive ATA, and he served 10 years on the Bond County Board.  Bill was a current member of Shoal Creek Fox Hunters Association and Litchfield Senior Citizens, where he will be remembered for dressing up like Santa Claus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Garlon “Buddy” and Grace (Segrest) Manning, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Pete and Susie (Probla) Topornick.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanette Manning of Sorento, IL; son, Robert “Bobby” (wife, Tami) Manning of Sorento, IL; daughter, Stephanie (husband, Kevin) Wernle of Greenville, IL; grandchildren, Corey (fiancée, Marissa Feldman) Manning of Sorento, IL, and Ashley Manning of Sorento, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Sorento, IL 62086.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento, with Rev. Daniel Willenborg officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento, IL.
