William Umek

Graveside services for William Umek, 86, of Panama will be held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in the Union Cemetery in Panama. Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite. The Perfetti Funeral Home of Panama is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Umek died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at 7:45 p.m. in his home. He was born July 25, 1923, in Panama to John and Mary (Ocepeck) Umek.

He married Nanette Reddick on July 8, 1950, in Hillsboro, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, William L. (wife Brenda) Umek of Henderson, NV; one grandson, Zachary Umek of Taylorville; one brother, John (wife Pauline) Umek of Panama; and one sister, Ida Umek of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Umek worked as a laborer and belonged to Labor Local 897. He was a life-time member and past Commander of Panama VFW Post #6628. He also belonged to the Panama Senior Citizens.
