Wilma Louise Volkmar

Wilma Louise Volkmar, age 81, of Donnellson, IL passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Hillsboro Area Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 7, 2017 at 1 PM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in German Cemetery, Hookdale, IL. Friends may call Monday August 7, 2017 after 11 AM at the funeral home.

Wilma was born October 29, 1935 in Loogootee, IL to Frank M. and Hulda K (Gesell) Wodtke. She married Vernon D. Volkmar on October 29, 1953 in Springfield, IL. He died November 26, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Shawana (Sue) Volkmar of Donnellson, her brother Art Wodtke of Greenville, IL, her sisters Emilie Cuthrell of Taylor Springs, ILand Verna Priest of Talahassee FL, her grandson Jerad L. Volkmar of Nokomis, IL, and her great grandson Caleb Volkmar along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Verne K. Volkmar, a great grandson Bryce L. Volkmar, and her sisters Erma Bauman, Frances (Fran) Sexton, Florence (Flo) Piker, and Rosemary (Rosy) Gibson.

Wilma worked in St. Louis as a legal secretary and also in Greenville at The Farm Bureau, Production Credit Association and for Attorney John Kelsey. Over the years she enjoyed riding her horses, her many dogs and cats, painting, and ornamental flower gardens. She was a member of The Greenville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
