Dennis Michael Gleason, 60, of Taylorville passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 9:45 p.m. at his home.

He was born January 17, 1949 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Edward W. and Mary Frances (Babich) Gleason. Mike bought cattle for McCabe Packing for 25 years, worked for the Secretary of State and worked in the business office of the Taylorville Correctional Facility for seven years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Taylorville and a member of the Christian County Board since 1990.

Surviving are his son, Ryan E. (Lauren) Gleason of Springfield, IL; sisters, Mary Kay (Daniel) Shultz of Washington, DC and Patricia Kaufman of Milwaukee, WI; parents, Edward W. and Mary Frances Gleason of Visalia, CA; five nephews: Aubrey Shultz and Andrew, Daniel, Nicholas and Peter Kaufman; former wife, Susan Vegovisch of Clifton, IL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation rites were accorded by Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.

Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Inurment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Visitation will be Monday, October 19, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
