Garry L. Anthony

Garry Lee Anthony, 75 of Taylorville passed away at 9:13 AM on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 30, 1941 at Bulpitt, IL the son of Chester Miller and Mary Elsie (Brandon) Anthony. Garry married Anna Lois Humphrey in 1958 at Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents; Son, George Anthony; Brothers, James, Jerry, Bob, Dean and Melvin Anthony; Sister, Rosemary Shelton.

Garry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Navy and retiring after 20 years of service to his country. After leaving the Navy he worked for Peabody Mine #10 for several years until his retirement. He had also worked as an electrician. Garry was a member of V.F.W. Post #4495, Taylorville Southern Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He loved history and listening to gospel music. Garry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many.

Survivors: His wife, Anna L. Anthony of Taylorville, IL; Daughters, Bonnie Adermann and Roxanna Anthony both of Taylorville, IL; Sons, Mike (wife, Tamela) Anthony of Noblesville, IN, Chay Anthony and Zennon McCoy both of Taylorville, IL; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Brian Canaday officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, rural Edinburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville.
