John DePew

John Albert DePew, 82 of Wood River passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at 3:37 PM at Highland Health Care Center.

He was born September 16, 1927 at Alhambra, Il the son of Justin and Gladys (Casey) DePew. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Lou Cowen, brothers, Geral DePew and Kenneth Bryan, children, Edward Bennett and Larry McElroy.

John retired from the US Army after serving more than 20 years of service to his country. He was skilled with the knowledge of electronics owning his own appliance and electronics business for many years. He was of the catholic faith.

Survivors: Sons, Danny Dennett of St. Louis, MO and Donald McElroy of St. Charles, MO; Daughters, Jackie Holowich of Washington, MO and Sandra Jones of Knoxville TN; Brothers, Bob W. (wife, Donna) DePew of Wood River, Il Bill R. (wife, Minda) DePew of Henderson, NV and Melvin L. (wife, Sharon) Depew of Granite City, IL; Sisters, Patricia (husband, Robert) Halleman of Sorento, IL and Sharron Johns of Wood River, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at 11:00 AM at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Perfetti Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Military honors will be conducted at the grave.
