Walter K. Miller, Jr

Walter K. Miller, Jr., age 88, of rural Greenville, IL passed away September 16, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 AM Monday, September 19, 2016 from the Wisetown Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wisetown Cemetery with military rites by V.F.W. Post #1377. Friends may call Monday after 10 AM at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Wisetown Baptist Church or Wisetown Cemetery .

Walter was born January 22, 1928 in Big Lake, Arkansas to Walter Kelly and Anna Pear (Davis)
Miller. He married Barbara Hughes on October 27, 1989 in Collinsville, IL. She survives. He is also survived by his stepchildren Todd Geno and his wife Becky of Henderson, KY, Colleen Scott and her husband Todd of Loudon, TN, Eric Geno of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kirk Geno and his wife Kate of Glen Carbon, IL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers in infancy and two sisters Helen Kukla and Mary Jane Redman.

He grew up in Arkansas and moved to E. St. Louis, IL at the age of fifteen. He went to work at Hunter Meat Packing Company in E. St. Louis until he was drafted into the Army during WWII. After the service he returned to Hunter Meat Packing and retired from there on Jan 1, 1980. He moved to Wisetown in 1989. He enjoyed water skiing and later became interested in horses. He did a lot of travelling showing his horses. He was a member of the Wisetown Baptist Church.
